Ari Harmaala is Managing Director at the China Office of Finnish Industries. He has a broad and comprehensive knowledge of international business and sales. He has more than 30 years of professional experience working in global markets, particularly in business and sales within the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and other emerging markets.
Ari lived in Asia with his family for nearly 20 years of which 10 years in the PRC, developing a deep understanding of Chinese business, culture and industry dynamics. He has a strong track record in international business, sales of investment and commodity products, and execution of strategies that enable organisations to succeed in highly competitive markets.

Kevin Broady

Kevin Broady is the Chief Analyst at the China Office of Finnish Industries. Kevin has analysed and advised on the People’s Republic of China for over 15 years, including for a decade living in Beijing. During that time he served in various roles including Chief of Staff to the British Ambassador to China. Kevin has a Master of Arts in Chinese Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. A dual Belgian and British national, Kevin moved to Helsinki in July 2023.

Anton Karppanen

Anton Karppanen is an Analyst at the China Office of Finnish Industries. He has studied and worked in Shanghai and Beijing and speaks fluent Mandarin. He joined the China Office from a company in the Netherlands sourcing Chinese company and science & technology data for governmental clients. He has previously worked with the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and the European Commission. He holds degrees in Asian Studies from the University of Helsinki and in International Politics from the University of Warwick. His areas of focus include Chinese industrial and technology policy, technological development, and PRC-EU relations. In addition to Mandarin, Anton speaks French and Japanese.
