Special briefing about US-China relations by Mr. Craig Allen, 2 October 2022
In early October, the China Office invited special guest Mr. Craig Allen, President of the US-China Business Council, to brief Board members. Mr. Allen provided an overview of US-China relations and their potential impact on international business. He also provided his assessment of the sources of tension between Washington and Beijing, as well as his forecast for future business prospects in China.
Ambassador (ret.) Craig Allen is currently President of the United States-China Business Council, which represents over 200 American companies doing business with China. A fluent Mandarin speaker based in Washington, DC, Mr. Allen has had a long, distinguished career in US public service. Among other positions, he has served in the US Department of Commerce, in the American Institute in Taiwan, in the US Foreign Service in Beijing, and as US ambassador to Brunei Darussalam.
